Sabanto has developed a retrofit kit for autonomous farming
The Sabanto Steward is an innovative retrofit kit that adds autonomous functionality to existing tractors. With a simple switch, farmers can seamlessly switch between autonomous and standard operating modes. This kit includes the following key components:
Vehicle Mission Control (vMC): this is a mobile application that allows users to create, manage and monitor field jobs in real time. With vMC, users can define working and non-working areas, select the required tractors and equipment, and create coverage plans. In addition, users can generate turn-by-turn paths for Steward to follow and monitor task execution in real time, while receiving alerts about unexpected objects in the field.
Vehicle Path Finding Module (vPFM): This is an on-board system that is connected to the tractor's steering, power and hydraulic systems. It works in conjunction with Steward's master control unit to translate mission control commands into actual field operating instructions.
Vehicle Operating System (vOS): This is the software that translates mission control commands into actual field operations and is the ‘brain’ of the Steward, fully designed by Sabanto engineers and running on the vPFM.
Additionally, to increase positioning accuracy and reliability, Sabanto Steward can also be integrated with Septentrio's Septentrio M3 Pro+ GNSS board, a multi-frequency, multi-constellation receiver that delivers top-notch positioning performance and can be used as a base station or mobile station receiver. In dual antenna mode, it provides heading and pitch or roll angle information in addition to reliable and accurate positioning information. The AsteRx-m3 Pro+ features advanced anti-interference and anti-spoofing technology (AIM+) for optimal performance in challenging environments, as well as ultra-low power consumption and an industry-leading 100Hz data update rate, making it an ideal choice for high-precision agricultural applications. Sabanto Steward
Sabanto Steward has been successfully performing a variety of field operations across the U.S., including mowing, mulching, aerating, rototilling, spraying, seeding, cultivating, rotary hoeing and weed pulling. The technology is compatible with a variety of tractor models, including the John Deere 5075E, 5100M, 5100E, Fendt 700 Vario and Kubota M5, with plans to expand to additional platforms in the future.
In addition, the Sabanto Steward features a wide range of safety mechanisms such as object detection, mandatory geo-fencing, hand-held emergency stop switches, tractor-mounted emergency stops, remote emergency stops, on-board cameras and more to ensure safety during automated operations. With these features, farmers can increase productivity, reduce labour requirements, lower capital expenditure and run a more sustainable and profitable business.
